How to Remember Seniors on Valentines Day
1. Breakfast at a Cafe
You could grab breakfast at your hotel, but if you’re visiting Asheville or spending a special day with your Valentine, Loyal Lifts can shuttle you to the Green Sage Cafe, Sunny Point Cafe, or Biscuit Head. These cafes serve Asheville’s most popular comfort food.
2. The Biltmore Estate
After breakfast, Loyal Lifts can shuttle you to Asheville’s beautiful historic house, built by George Vanderbilt. This 8000-acre estate in the Blue Ridge Mountains offers hours of touring in the wheelchair friendly house and victorian gardens. The Biltmore Estate sees more than 1.4 million visitors per year, but to have the best chance of beating the crowds, go early morning or afternoon.
3. Shopping Downtown
The next stop is downtown Asheville where you can find everything from farm-to-table restaurants, shops, art galleries, and museums. Loyal Lifts can shuttle you downtown to the top shopping spots like Battery Park Book Exchange, Grove Arcade, the new Asheville Art Museum and Woolworth Walk. The Battery Park Book Exchange is one of the coziest book shops that has a small coffee and champagne bar.
Grove Arcade is one of the oldest historic buildings in Asheville and it is home to unique restaurants and shops. Lastly, Woolworth Walk is a cool gallery and emporium located in a fully-restored downtown Woolworth building.
4. Luncheon
Once you had enough shopping, shuttle over to Tupelo Honey Cafe on College Street for some Southern comfort food with a creative spin. This place is ranked one of the top places to eat in Asheville. They serve an all-day breakfast menu, as well as Southern favorites like fried pickles, fried chicken, and shrimp and grits.
5. Blue Ridge Parkway
Asheville is tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains and offers a beautiful scenic drive on the Parkway. If you are exhausted from shopping downtown, take a relaxing trip throughout the famous Blue Ridge Mountains with stops at the Linville Falls Trail, Mast General Store, and The North Carolina Arboretum. During the winter, be sure to check for BRP closings.
6. River Arts District
This cool part of Asheville used to be an abandoned industrial area that was leftover from the booming railroad day. Eventually, the empty warehouses and buildings slowly began being bought up and transformed into art studios, workshops, coffee shops and galleries that spread out over a mile along the French Broad River.
7. Visit a Brewery
After exploring the art district, shuttle over to visit one of Asheville’s famous craft breweries. Wedge Brewing Company is located in an old warehouse building that serves small-batch beer and has food trucks on-site during lunch and dinner hours. You can also head to Asheville’s South Slope neighborhood and visit breweries including Burial Beer Co., Green Man Brewery, the Funkatorium, and Twin Leaf Brewery.
8. Cocktails at Grove Park Inn
If breweries aren’t your thing, another great pre-dinner place is located in the head north of downtown Asheville. Grove Park Inn is a luxurious mountain resort with Arts and Crafts architectural style and massive stone fireplaces. The resort is historically important and offers spa treatment, golf, and cocktails. The Sunset Cocktail Terrace is a beautiful place to look at the surrounding mountains and enjoy a drink.
9. Top Dinner Spots
Buxton Hall Barbecue is one of the most well-known and popular BBQ spots in South Slope that serves true Carolina barbecue. If you are wanting something hip and trendy, Cúrate is a fantastic option, which is a Spanish tapas restaurant that believes in sharing good food and wine.
10. Chocolate for Dessert
After dinner and just around the corner from Cúrate, the French Broad Chocolate Lounge is a great place to grab dessert to eat-in or to-go. This place serves delicious treats from truffles to brownies and tasty drinking chocolate.
